“ANGER”

Anger is a strong passion, emotion or disturbance of displeasure excited by or expressed by a sense of injury or resentment being vexed.

This feeling plus emotion is natural to all men as fear, love, joy, disgust, grief and surprise.

These are emotional excitement or agitations which are a departure from the normal state into certain internal physical reactions as any of the states mentioned.

Anger in itself is not sinful. Yet there is danger of it becoming so if it is not carefully watched as Ephesians 4: 26. Be angry and sin not. Keep balanced, not outrageous, don’t hover anger. Let not the sun go down on it. A man under the influence of anger may sin and make as big a fool of himself as a man under the influence of liquor.

Anger that is commendable and praise worthy; when one goes against that which is right, reasonable and sane. There are cases which are lawful, but without cause is sinful with out any good end aimed at, only to do evil. It should be to awaken the offender of his wrong, to repent and prevent him doing so again. Matthew 5:22, Whosoever is angry without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. When our anger exceeds due bonds, becoming outrageous mischievous seeking to hurt. God forbids.

Take heed of anger and ungoverned passions, and observe the restriction (and sin not).

Our countenance or facial expression reveals moods and character, mental composure. As God took note of Cain and ask, “Why is thy countenance fallen? Genesis 4:6.

Wisdom defers anger. Proverbs 19:11. Abigail’s wisdom and tact sanctified and won David’s favor. I Sam. 25th chapter. Naaman’s servants deferred his anger and he received his healing.

A soft answer turns it away. (Proverbs 15:1. but grievous words stir anger. Don’t be hasty to be angry. It rest in the bosom of fools. Eccl. 7:9. He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly. Proverbs 14:17. Cease from anger (don’t disgrace thyself) Psalms 37:8. It stirreth up strife. Anger is cherished feelings of ill will which seeks satisfaction, disposed and bent to do evil.

Slow to anger have it’s virtues. Proverbs 16:39. He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city. Proverbs 15:18. He that is slow to anger appeaseth strife. James 1:19-20 Be swift to hear slow to speak, slow to wrath. For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. A still tongue maketh a wise head. Titus 1:7 In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works; not soon angry, peevish, touchy, and moody.
