Tract Number 353 Audio download at bottom of page ________________________ Five Reasons Why Boys & Girls Should Be Christians REASON ONE You need the help of Christ. You are in the world every day, and you must pass through it. You will constantly have questions to answer and problems to settle that you won’t know how to take care of if you are left to yourself. You are and will be continually tempted to do wrong. You will need someone to guide you in the right path, someone who will help you choose the right at all times. No one else can help you as Jesus can. Then, too, you have a character to form. Life is not all fun. Jesus is the only One who ever lived a perfect life; therefore, He is the best teacher you can have. More than that, He will come into your heart and live with you if you will let Him. Revelation 3:20 says, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Have you ever been in the presence of a good man or a good woman who set a good example of Christian living? After you’ve been with this person, no doubt you unconsciously found that you desired to be like this one, even though you may never admit it. You desire to think as he or she thinks, do as that individual does, and possibly be what he or she is. It was easy to be good in that person’s presence, wasn’t it? You will find it much easier to be good if you will let Christ come into your life. Jesus is the only One who can forgive sin, and when He comes into your heart, He plants there a desire to choose the right way. Oh, young person, if you only knew how important it is to give your life over to the Lord while you are young! When you become older, you will be more set in your ways, and it will be harder to let Jesus have His way. May the Lord impress your heart and mind with your great need of the help of Jesus Christ today! REASON TWO Jesus needs your help. He has a place for you in His Kingdom and a work for you to do. He needs you to be a real witness for Him in the school that you attend day after day, brave and true, standing alone if such be the case, living a holy life so that your fellow-classmates will see Christ in your life. You might ask how you can be a real witness outside of just being different in dress and appearance. Many times pupils have occasion to write essays or themes for their English classes. You could take this opportunity to bring out some spiritual thoughts in your essay. There is always some interesting way you can bring out a precious truth, and if you are told to take your seat before you finish, you will be able to do so with a victorious feeling down inside that you pleased the Lord in your effort. Your endeavor, though it may be hindered, will become a real blessing to your soul, because you did what you could to be a real witness for the Lord. Christ also needs you in your home to brighten it by a happy life. Jesus certainly did brighten His home when He was a boy. There are many helpful things a youth of today can do to make his or her home a more pleasant place in which to live. How happy is the home where Christ rules and reigns and where love abounds, especially among the young people! Very seldom do you find a family where the young people, brothers and sisters, love one another with a fervent love. There is usually much disunity existing, but this need not be, for there is an answer to this great problem. Jesus Christ is that answer, and when Christ comes into the lives of boys and girls, they just naturally love one another. What a good feeling it produces to know that Jesus needs you! You would be sorry to think that He had no use for you and that the world could go along just as well without you. You need not think this, for there is plenty of work that will not be done unless you do it—you, the one reading these words right now! He is calling you. Won’t you respond to His call and be His helper? Christ needs you! REASON THREE God’s requirements are reasonable. All He asks of you is to do right. Christianity does not consist of boring sermons and long drawn-out prayer meetings, but of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Also, it is doing right because it pleases the Lord, being happy because you are doing right, and living at peace with those around you. How good it is to pillow your head at night with a clear record, knowing that you have endeavored all day long to walk in the steps of the Savior as He has so gently led! There is nothing to hide, nothing to regret, and nothing to feel guilty about; all is peaceful. You can look forward to the morrow with assurance that the Lord will be with you still. Young people sometimes think they can “sow wild oats” for a few years and repent later on; however, they forget that a life once stained with sin may be forgiven, but the scar will remain forever. Galatians 6:7 says, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” Unsaved young person, if you could realize the truth in these words, you would turn to Christ immediately and save yourself many sorrows and hardships. Don’t you think that He who made you knows what will make you the happiest? REASON FOUR There is the question of eternity. How will you face it? As you think about the future, the outlook is very bright for a Christian boy or girl. The same Jesus whom you have loved and served in life will be with you in the hour of death and will usher you into the gates of the eternal city. Eternity is a long time—an awfully long time to spend apart from Jesus, but a blessed long time to spend in His company. He who can say, “For me to live is Christ” can also say, “To die is gain.” REASON FIVE You ought to be a Christian and you know it. Christ died for you. He loves you and longs for your love in return. Won’t you begin today by asking Him to forgive your sins and enroll your name in the Lamb’s Book of Life as one of His followers? The best thing a boy or a girl can do is stand up for Jesus. This is the kind of boy or girl you really want to be anyhow. You admire a Christian boy or girl, and down deep inside you struggle in the fight with sin and strife, wanting more than anything else to be like that Christian. You would love to be one who could be sure to make it through to Heaven. You don’t want to be lost in a devil’s hell, and you have no intentions of being lost, but you must not waste any more time. Take Christ as your personal Savior. You must choose today whom you will serve. “Choose you this day whom ye will serve” (Joshua 24:15).
