What God's Word Says About Homosexuality

There is a movement in America today for legislation that would deem homosexuals as “normal.” Psychiatrists of the American Psychiatric Association who once explained homosexuality as “a sexual deviation,” ranked with sadism, masochism, and fetishism now say it is “an alternate life-style.” They have even issued a statement in support of homosexual rights. Hundreds of thousands of men and women in America today flagrantly boast their sin and march in public view. America is indeed sick.
We as the people of God must seek God’s face as never before and work to check Satan’s attempts to pervert the divinely appointed home—namely, one man for one women.
The wisest man who ever lived said, “Righteousness (right living) exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” Homosexuality is a sin. Homosexuals are people blinded by Satan, the god of this world. They are people who desperately need the Lord Jesus Christ.
ABOMINABLE IN THE SIGHT OF GOD
The sin of homosexuality is so grievous, so abominable in the sight of God that He destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah because of this terrible sin. The Old Testament Law stated, “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination” (Leviticus 18:22); and “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death;” (Leviticus 20:13). We are no longer under the Law because of Christ’s sacrificial death on the cross. However, God still abhors the sin of homosexuality, and it will not go unpunished. Romans 1:26-28 says:
“For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the women, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient,”
These people knowingly rejected God’s revealed truth. Thus God “gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between them“ (Romans 1:24).
In 1st Corinthians 6:9,10, we are told that neither the “effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind. . shall inherit the kingdom of God.” Those who “defile themselves with mankind” are again mentioned in 1st Timothy 1:9, 10.
GOD’S DIVINE PLAN FOR MALE AND FEMALE
Homosexuality is a sin against the human body and against nature. In God’s divine plan of creation He “created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth” (Genesis 1: 27,28). Heterosexuality is endorsed by God.
God’s plan is for men to be manly and spiritual in all areas of Christian leadership. God’s Word says, “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong” (1st Corinthians 16:13). In the Christian home the father is responsible to exercise spiritual control and be the head over his wife and children; “For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church:” (Ephesians 5:23). Women are to be feminine and manifest the “ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price” (1st Peter 3:4). In the Christian home the woman is to be submissive; “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord” (Ephesians 5:22).
Homosexuality is unnatural, Satan’s diabolical attack on the family, God’s order in creation. A person becomes a homosexual because he gives in to Satan. The body is important to God. Over and over again in Scripture we are taught that a Christian’s body is to be kept pure and clean because it is a temple of the Holy Ghost.
HOPE ONLY IN CHRIST
Homosexuality is a spiritual problem. Only the Lord Jesus Christ can deliver homosexuals. Laws will keep them from teaching in private schools, but laws can never change their hearts. Only the blood of Jesus Christ can do that. In I Corinthians 6, we see that homosexuals came to Christ and were saved. There is hope for the homosexual if he will turn to Christ and acknowledge his sin.
God has ordained that all men should be saved. He is not willing that any should perish.
We have the message of redemption—Jesus Christ and Him crucified. It is the will of God that we tell the world the message He has given us. America’s only hope is in God. Jesus is coming soon!
