MEMO
Your Appointment is Still Pending!

By T. L. N.

This is just to remind you that your appointment is still pending and unchanged. Sometimes people become so busy they almost forget about this, so this is just a simple reminder.

Perhaps you did not even realize that you had this appointment, but it is still set and the One whom you are to meet absolutely will not change His plans. You may have an appointment with your dentist, doctor, lawyer, or congressman and circumstances arise whereby the meeting must be changed or canceled. This appointment is different than any of these mentioned, because it can not be changed, and you will be there!

You may be thinking at this point, “this is a free country, and no one can force me to such an agreement or meeting without my full consent!” Your appointment is still pending, and you will be there, right on time!

You see, my friend, I am speaking of one of the last appointments you will ever have. Hebrews 9: 27 reads “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” Now you can see it is God who has made this appointment and He will enforce the attendance on that day. Romans 14:10b reads “For we shall stand before the judgment seat of Christ.” Romans 14:12 reads “So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.” What more can be said about this appointment? It is fixed and settled; you and I will both be there!

Realizing what lies ahead for you and me, we should be making some serious preparation for this time of accounting. God’s Word says that “all have sinned” (Romans 3:23) and the “wages of sin is death.” (Romans 6:23) This death isn’t a physical death, or folk would fall dead when they sin, and there would be no one left alive, for “all have sinned.” This death is a spiritual condition, and unless you are “born again” (John 3:3) you will be lost in Hell. God wants every man to repent, be saved, quit sinning and live pure, so that on accounting day, every man will be spiritually alive and ready for Heaven.

Salvation is really very simple. You can not join into anything and obtain it. You can not buy it with money or prestige. Jesus said “Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:3) We must repent, or turn away from, ALL sin; be honest and sincere with God and ask His forgiveness. Then, believe on Jesus, that He paid sins debt for you and fully believe and trust God that HE has forgiven you, for He promised that He would-- IF you meet the conditions! (1st John 1:9)

When you have done this, you are saved. God has taken away all your sin and you are clean in His sight. You need not join anything, for you are in God’s church or family already. (Acts 2:47) Remember. “born again” born right into it! Now as Jesus told the woman at the well, “go and sin no more”.

Sin is not a mistake! Everyone makes mistakes, but sin is a willful, (with knowledge of what you are doing) transgression of God’s law. God will show you how to live and will keep you saved if you obey Him and let Him. Just one thought in closing.

YOUR APPOINTMENT IS STILL PENDING!
